Community Collaborators Award

This award recognizes the partnership of two or more organizations to achieve a common goal and/or address an identified problem. These partners exemplify what it means to operate collaboratively in a community-space, and achieve greater results by leveraging shared resources.

Nonprofits, businesses, and individuals whose combined efforts have had a significant impact in the veteran community are eligible. At least one of the nominees must be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose programs serve veterans in the Greater Pittsburgh Region.

 
Leadership Excellence Award

The award recognizes a local veteran who exemplifies leadership, passion, integrity, innovation, perseverance, and a collaborative spirit.

Mental Health Champion

This award honors an individual and/or organization that is making an outstanding contribution to stand up for, fight for and promote mental health and well-being for veterans; with equity of treatment and dignity in experience. We are looking for nominees who’s work promotes community and connectedness, increases resiliency and post traumatic growth, and/or works to de-stigmatize help-seeking among veterans.

Advocate of the Year

This award recognizes an individual and/or organization whose work has resulted in significant progress on a veteran-centric policy issue, advanced cultural change within the military/veteran community, and/or affected the outcomes of one or more individuals in a meaningful way. 

People's Choice Award

That's right...YOU CHOOSE! Who do you want to nominate and why? 

Squad Award

This award honors an individual who identifies as a woman who has served in the United States Military  under any conditions. 

The Buffalo Soldier 

This award honors an individual who identifies as Black, African-American, or person of color and has served in the United States Military under any conditions. 

The Proud Award

This award honors an individual who identifies as LGBTQ+ and has served in the United States Military under any conditions

 
Best of Vets Pittsburgh
Western Pennsylvania is home to the largest veterans population in the Commonwealth and Best of Vets Pittsburgh is the first award show of its kind in the region that honors and recognizes those in Western Pennsylvania who are doing the most to support our military veterans.
